Parking strategy

The scheme must deliver its own parking while the Council is responsible for delivering the public parking for visitors to the International Sports Village venues, principally the Pool, White Water and Vindico Arena.

Prior to start on site for Plot 1 and Meanwhile Uses phase 2

  • The Council is obliged to deliver temporary parking for circa 900 vehicles and it is currently understood this will be accommodated on Council owned land, principally the land around the vacant ex-Toys R Us building

Cardiff Peninsula parking

  • Residents parking – Vehicle parking for our scheme will be delivered across the six phases underneath each residential building. It will be decked, managed, well lit, ticket or pass entry, with 24/7 security. It will be Council policy compliant on numbers and disabled provision. 20% of spaces will be fitted for EV charging with future proofing in place for expansion of those numbers in years to come
  • Public parking – There will be on-street car parking at street level for short stay visitors. This parking will have appropriate provision for disabled spaces and EV charging in line with Council policy

Longer term parking solution

  • It is clearly key to properly resolve the parking demand for the wider International Sports Village. We are working closely with the Council to plan for a permanent parking solution. Possible solutions include a multi storey car park on the Council’s land between the Vindico Arena and International Drive
